چکیده
Abstract. The magnitude of wake interactions between individual wind turbines depends on the atmospheric stability. We investigate strategies for loss mitigation through use closed-loop steering using large eddy simulations diurnal cycle, in which variations surface heat flux time modify stability, speed and direction, shear, turbulence, other boundary layer (ABL) flow features. control methodology developed Part 1 (Howland et al., 2020c, https://doi.org/10.5194/wes-5-1315-2020) is implemented an example eight turbine farm cycle. optimal yaw misalignment set points depend varies during To improve application transient ABL conditions with evolving mean state, we develop a regression-based direction forecast method. compare to baseline yaw-aligned open-loop lookup table various selections set-point update frequency, dictates balance tracking activity. In our cycle representative geometry, optimization under uncertainty results higher collective energy production than both control. increase simulated design closed- control, compared 4.0 %–4.1 % 3.4 %–3.8 %, respectively, range indicating depending frequency. primary increases occur stable present simulations. Open-loop decreases convective simulated, while simulated.

Large-eddy simulation of a diurnal cycle of the atmospheric boundary layer: Atmospheric stability and scaling issues
[1] A simulation of a diurnal cycle of atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) flow over a homogeneous terrain is performed using large-eddy simulation (LES) with the Lagrangian scale-dependent dynamic subgrid-scale model. The surface boundary condition is derived from the field observations of surface heat flux from the HATS experiment (Horst et al., 2004; Kleissl et al., 2004). The simulation result...

Data from SABLES98 experimental campaign have been used in order to study the influence of stability (from weak to strong stratification) on the flux-profile relationships for momentum and heat: φm and φh. Standard instrumentation, 14 thermocouples and 3 sonic anemometers at three levels (5.8, 13.5 and 32 m) were available from 10 to 28 September 1998 and calculations are done in order to extra...

The TROpospheric WAter RAdiometer (TROWARA) is a ground-based microwave radiometer with an additional infrared channel observing atmospheric water parameters in Bern, Switzerland. TROWARA measures with nearly all-weather capability during dayand nighttime with a high temporal resolution (about 10 s). Using the almost complete data set from 2004 to 2016, we derive and discuss the diurnal cycles ...
متن کاملOptimal Boundary Conditions for ORCA-2 Model
A 4D-Var data assimilation technique is applied to a ORCA-2 configuration of the NEMO in order to identify the optimal parametrization of the boundary conditions on the lateral boundaries as well as on the bottom and on the surface of the ocean. The influence of the boundary conditions on the solution is analyzed as in the assimilation window and beyond the window. It is shown that optimal cond...
